As an oil and shipping company, Pallas Group shoulders a great responsibility to make sure the environment stays safe. To meet today's requirements, our staff is continuously trained on how to deal with oil and vessels in a secure manner. A major part of the training the crew have to undergo deals with smaller oil spills, something we call "First aid to oil spill". Our business is to minimize its impact on the marine environment. Furthermore, gear to handle an oil spill such as absorption sand, shovels, clothing and so on is always readily available on board ships and in tank cars. However, the most important work to prevent environmental impact is that there is a constant maintenance of hoses, fittings, and other equipment parts, something we put much focus on. Pallas Group is always at the forefront of equipping ships and tank cars with the latest equipment. Aside from oil spills we are also prepared for dealing with lubricants, marine fuel and engine oils among others on board ships, a plan approved by Lloyds Register of London and something our crew is trained in conjuction with. Pallas Group want through this work to ensure that our children can grow up in an equally beautiful environment. |
Eco-consciousness
Pallas Group is working actively to ensure that our vessels have a high profile in the prevention of oil spills and that the crew is trained each month on board in accordance with a particular system which we call 'Ship Board Oil Pollution Plan'. This plan is supervised by the shipping manager, also known as the Designated Person. Furthermore, the tank car drivers are sent on courses that teach them to prevent and deal with possible oil spills during the fuelling of a vessel and so on. For one example, on the Pallas Ocean we only use environmentally-friendly propeller sleeve oil. If there there would be a leak, it does not harm the marine ecosystem as this specific oil is biodegradable. Also, we use non-toxic hull paint and we sort garbage properly on board.
